I am a mother, teacher and artist. Having a love of drawing from an early age, I completed a BA Fine Art degree in the 90’s. The feeling to be creative has never gone away and I have passionately spent the past 6 years developing my art practice. I am blown away by the support I have from my friends and family and I’m excited about where it might take me next.

I love the flat colour of gouache paint, its vibrancy, applied in a controlled, thoughtful placement of shapes which evoke a sense of calm and place. This contrasts with the quick and intuitive gestures that the acrylic ink brings, conveying an element of chance and chaos. Together they bring a style that is mine a balance between calm and flux that seems ever present in my world.

My paintings are always inspired by nature and being outside where I absorbe the shapes, colour, line and patterns that surround me.  It is this initial response and feeling where the creative process happens.  I take reference photos or sketch quick compositions before heading back to the studio to get stuck in.
